Painted icons
An icon – is a painted prayer in the Orthodoxy. Its content is not a historical epoch or wealth of spiritual life of a person but unity of a man and God. Invariable in its spiritual meaning, an orthodox icon has been transformed according to a new perception of beauty. In XVIII century a new painting view appeared in the Orthodox Church culture of icon-painting and murals. Icons became more realistic, images of the Saints more gentle and nice-looking, motion lines smoother.
